Scotland has changed into a land where all of its problems and none of its successes are blamed on the English. eg. Most Scots hold English racism responsible manufacturing decline in Scotland despite the fact that the same decline occured in England and much of the West.
Scotland will do well after independence. Once they lose the scapegoat for their misfortunes they will be forced to act like adults once again. It's good for them and for us.
Sorry for going off topic but what do you think of this DSD?
There is currently a petition to give the Falklands back to Argentina; it was started by some silly mare called Silvia Cryan. It has been signed by a chap called ‘You’re a disgrace to your country’ and another fellow called ‘You deserve to be locked in a room with PARA veterans shithouse’. The handful of other people that have signed it have, surprise surprise, Argentine sounding names.

Well its very simple. If a majority of Scots want to leave then they can go with my deeply enthusiastic blessing. Likewise as a majority in Ulster want to stay British, they should do so.
And I dont think you'd have much trouble getting a 98% result in the Falklands in favour of staying British either. Trouble is, if the Argentinians did it again, we'd be screwed as we would have no chance whatsoever of retaking the Islands again. Our power to project force has been lost.
Why not? We did all right without 'em. Jimmy in Texas
My prefered choice would be to reverse almost all of the changes the labour party have made including devolution, the way its been implemented is totally anti-English.
The current setup is unworkable anyway once different parties control different parliaments.
But if the only choices are the status quo and independence for England.
I would choose independence.
I think it would cause a lot of problems though cause a lot of immigrants to Britain live in England yet see themselves as British not English, Welsh or Scottish, or Irish..
I think England has the most to gain from independence too although probably only if it was independence from the EU as well.
Will they still claim its 'racist' to wave an English flag once we are a real nation once again? probably yes but it will sound even more ridiculous.
Yes.
The English are entitled to be asked about their own future.
sure, why not.
"I think it would cause a lot of problems though cause a lot of immigrants to Britain live in England yet see themselves as British"
Because of course all the ones who live here now and think of themselves as anything but have worked out fine...
Britlord, your nickname in this blog also comes as a surprise!First of all I am not a silly mare. Secondly, if you would read the BBC Have your say posts on the 25th anniversary of the conflict you would see that many British and English people think like me or should I say us, not only "argentinean sounding names" and if you would do a bit of research on your history, you would see that the British invaded the islands ilegally in the 1800´s. I do acknowledge that the method was not the right one and General Galtieri was trying to avoid the unavoidable, the fall of a long dictatorship. And if I am a disgrace for my country, let my country judge me first. As well I am not afraid to be locked with PARAS either, that is my uncle´s job.
