New Thread For 'Why I Wont Vote BNP'

Slightly odd step I know, but the previous thread on this has ended up sprawling to the point where I and I suspect other people are getting a bit lost on it. So feel free to all jump in and post more comments as you wish, even if it is to tell me I'm betraying my 'Ethnic genetic interest' or somesuch. Long as you keep it polite I will post your comments and answer when time permits.

DSD, you may have missed the point of my comment which was that the statement by the BNP you highlighted was not anti-Jewish/Zionist. It was merely a reflection of current BNP policy, right or wrong, with regards to all countries, not just Israel. I may disagree with it in some scenario's but a policy of not getting involved in other people's wars is not one that would stop me from supporting the party at any future election. You appear to be a passionate Zionist which is fine by me. However, personally, I have some doubts and reservations about past and present Israeli policy. I balance these out with a degree of understanding that it's not just disaffected Palesinian nationalists that Israel faces but a growing Islamic, jihadist, fundamentalism wishing to destroy the country and expel all Jews from the area. The whole thing's complex, for me at least and there are no easy answers. Back to the original post, could any BNP member enlighten me as to the party's position on Iran obtaining a nuclear device ? An Iranian dominated Middle East, or an all out war in the area can hardly be in Britain's interests.

I'd say this pretty much covers the answer to your question.

http://www.bnp.org.uk/news_detail.php?newsId=1044

To answer your original question, to some extent I would broadly agree with 'staying out of the Middle East'. I think however that making sure that Iran doesnt acquire nukes is not only a moral but a practical duty as well. Doesnt mean we have to go and play happy touchy feely families with Iranian population and expect them to reciprocate for years afterwards though.

The thrust of the BNP statement wasnt anti-Jewish but its continued peddling of the 'all-powerful Zionist media lobby' (which must be REALLY crap considering the wonderful press Israel gets lol) myth and other such nonsense which many of its supporters (such as Guessedworker on the other thread) put out IS something that would stop me supporting the BNP in a future election.

I mean seriously, read the guy's utterances. This is the 'intellectual' voice of the BNP? Gimme a break. Its just bad old-fashioned racism and anti-semitism with longer words.

To be honest, I've not read the BNP statement or the other comments, but on the subject of the Middle East I am broadly in agreement with the idea of keeping out of it if that was at all possible.

But it isn't. Like it or not, what happens in the Middle East effects us. I'm also very much in favour of Israel's right to exist - and to exist where it is. I'm also in favour of a Palestine nation if that is what those who call themselves Palestinians really want (I do not believe it is - except as a replacement for Israel).

So I believe it is right that Britain takes an active role in the Middle East - but that this should always be from the position of a staunch ally of Israel.

Personally, I believe Israel is living on borrowed time. It won't be there in 20 years or so. How we react to that in the west will be a key test of our resolve.

(I have never voted BNP)

DSD I don't think just because the BNP make a loony statement about zionism in the media that automatically makes them supporters of Islamic terrorism against Israel?
Maybe I missed something, but I don't see how that single statement has such an effect on you.
Last artical I read from BNP about Israel was supportive to them, although I don't read much from the BNP so I prob don't have the full picture.

-
10 years ago I would have never considered voting BNP, I am not fan of theres at all, but then when I read articals like this:
http://tottenhamlad.blogspot.com/2006/10/ten-years-of-labour-racist-gps-and.html

I think about it.. What else are we to do?
Note the problem here is not the racism because I know it can come from any community, the problem is the political attitudes that have created the mess.

I am convinced Europe is heading for a big war, and doubting we will 'win'. Depending when it starts.

No Anon,

I dont think that this makes the BNP supporters of terror against Israel. I just think that despite diatribes saying that there 'is no worldwide Jewish conspiracy' there is still ample evidence of rampant anti-semitism both at the top and amongst the ranks of the BNP. Read Guessedworker's remarks in the previous thread. Go to BNP Member's Blog and see the flak he gets for supporting Israel. See how many BNP supporters and members (some fairly notable) are prominent on Stormfront.

I think that in the case of Iran taking the non-interference line and blaming calls to take out its nuclear capability on the 'Zionist media lobby' is the spots showing through the leopard's fresh coat of paint. Plus if you read the article Lee Barnes wrote which followed his initial column praising Israel (which I assume is the one you are referencing), he then starts praising self-hater and loony-left Holocaust denier Norman Finkelstein and the whole thing takes on a very different tone.

As I said in my original post, this was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. I posted a previous thread called 'Consider Me A Floating Voter' a while ago and at that point I WAS considering voting BNP. But since then I have been looking ever closer at the BNP and have come to the conclusion that they arent a Party I could vote for, though as my musical idol Gary Numan says, 'if they do something I like I'll support them, but if another lot do something I like I'll support them as well'.

And I will.

About the flak.

Before all those annonymous comments appeared, they were all positive. Then, i got a few less-than-happy-e-mails from Sharon (Her of "I will defend your right to say what you want but dont you DARE disagree with me or ill ban your ass" fame)

Anyway, after the e-mails i got hundereds of hits from her new pet forum, and you yourself questioned if they were just one or two people commenting due to the times they commented. All her old school chums huffed and puffed off to her forum due to internal issues, and a few made nasty comments about my views.

And the real issue here is not that some less than inspiring people figured out how to plug a keyboard in but that sharon was effectively reprimanded by the party leadership despite being the hardest working activist that i know of. Im not privvy to why that is, but i can use my intuition.

And THAT is why i wanted to bring it to your attention. That there appeared and then dissapeared muppets in the comments to my posts is irrelevant, because muppets dont make the world go round.

I think Sharon Ebanks (who is after all the duly elected Councillor for Kingstanding) got slapped down and will shortly I assume leave the party because of a combination of things.

One, the Court case and the despicable and criminal antics of Birmingham Council have drawn a greater degree of publicity to Ebanks than probably any other Councillor elected last time around. And she is, hard-working or not, someone I would have no hesitation calling a Nazi Muppet. BAD when she opens her mouth or the papers pick up that she is a Stormfront darling.

Two, I think she was VERY fast becoming the focus of opposition to Griffin and the 'reformers', 'modernists' or whatever you want to call them. I think she was on the way to becoming about the only likely leadership candidate to stand against Griffin.

Put those together and you have a very very damaging situaion in potentia. And whatever else he is, Griffin is savvy enough to realise this.

Post a link in the comments to the info about Ebanks being jumped on by all means, I seem to remember you had something on it.
